Friends of Lincoln Park

Friends of Lincoln Park High School (FOLPHS) is a parent-run, volunteer based organization seeking to improve educational and cultural opportunities for all students.  With our combined energy, ideas and commitment we can fulfill our mission through fundraising and volunteering!  For more detailed information about our organization, including meeting dates and ongoing activities, please visit our website.

FOLPHS supports fundraising and community building events throughout the school year, including:

·         Fundraising:  Pledge drive, online auction, annual gala, corporate and individual sponsorships, and grant writing

·         Communications:  Parent newsletter, association articles, PR announcements

·         School spirit:  Teacher appreciation, school recruitment, Lion’s Den Spirit Store, parent mixers, IB hospitality, student volunteer opportunities

During the 2015-2016 school year, the Friends of Lincoln Park High School raised about $150,000 to support the school.

FOLPHS helps to support the many things that CPS just doesn't provide.  We are the largest fundraising team for the entire school and through our efforts and parent / community generosity we have:

·         Helped bridge budget shortfalls for the school, including saving teacher positions

·         Placed smartboards in classrooms

·         Provided new music/art equipment

·         Bought new laboratory equipment

·         Sponsored additional teacher training

We are proud to support one of the best public high schools in the city of Chicago and the state of Illinois, recognized by US News & World Report as the fourteenth best high school in Illinois and by the Washington Post as the third hardest high school in the state. It’s a school that reflects the values of the community, as described in this WBEZ report:  “The incoming test scores we analyzed show Lincoln Park is the city’s most academically diverse school, enrolling a whole range of performers. It is an anomaly in a system where students are being sorted based on achievement level into separate high schools.”
